Accomodation & Transportation

Dear IUTAM Symposium - Santorini Participants, 

Concerning the accommodation, it was difficult to get a significant number of rooms in the resort - hotel De Sol, due to the fact tat Santorini is among the most highly demanded destinations worldwide, even at the beginning of summer.

We would recommend to book hotels in Fira, which is the capital City of the island. The public buses station is nearby and allows you stop to the station named "Mexicaniko" (it is a small snack) and from there, following the main avenue, you get to De Sol after 15 mn walk.

In Fira, we can recommend the hotels "Atlantis" (Four star) with beautiful view to the Volcano . We had also experienced the 'Markakis studios",  more economic with room and kitchen, very near to the bus station. 

The De Sol hotel recommended the following other hotels  :

1) Altera Pars Suites (at approximately 700 m from De Sol)
